Chevron Side Tables w/ Shape Tape

Hello Friends (and Family)

I have been crazy busy… creating new things :)\

DSC_4000Well, as usual, I don’t have a before pic.  I was given a new phone for my birthday and I may or may not have taken a pic on my old phone…we will never know.

I picked these two little side tables up at a garage sale…they were unfinished wood with no tops on them.  I got them for $5 each 🙂  If I told you what else I bought from this woman you would not EVEN believe me.  I am sure, one day soon I will share but as a hint…she called it “the wood”!  Anyways, My hubby put some tops on these for me, because he is awesome!

I had seen the frog brand “shape tape” on pinterest I think so I set out to find it of course in a chevron pattern, because chevron makes my heart skip a beat 😉  Because this was raw wood, I decided to use Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint, which I am smitten with.  Here is a pic of the shape tape on the table top.

photoI, unfortunately, don’t have any more “in the process” pics but i do have the a few more after pics.  I painted these in Linen and used both MMS Furniture Wax along with Antiquing wax.

DSC_3976I loved the tape, it worked beautifully!  I do wish that the chevron pattern was a little larger in size giving a more dramatic look, but that’s okay.  I have wanted to many times to paint a chevron pattern but the thought of planning out the pattern made me not follow through.

Here are a few more pics…

DSC_3997I am not sure which I like more…the table or the pallet behind it 🙂

Please feel free to ask questions if you have any.

Thanks for looking and God Bless!

  1. Did the tape pull any of your underlying paint off? I have a hard time with the painters tape. Seems to always pull paint off and then I have to go back and touch it up.
I believe there are other patterns too. Have not tried it yet…but I’ll give anything a whirl once 😉

    • Hi Lisa,
The tape did not pull up any of my paint. I used milk paint on raw wood which is very hard to pull up to begin with. The shape tape wasted by frog tape which I have found to be the best painters tape. Also the tape was a lot thinner feeling than regular painters tape. I feel like that would help not pull paint up. I even took a piece of plastic and really rubbed the tape on there so it would not bleed anywhere, which it did not :). Lastly, just FYI I did see this tape at Walmart the other day and I purchased mine at Lowes. I don’t think it’s at Home Depot but I could be wrong. Good luck if you try it 🙂
